Films for the week

M (1931) - This is a taste specific film. It is undeniably fantastic, but you have to seriously be able to appreciate this old of a film to enjoy it. However, the acting is brilliant, as with the story and direction, M is a great watch. 10/10

American Gangster (2007) - Like all of Scott's other films, American Gangster has an incredibly slow pace that will turn a lot of viewers off from the film. But the acting and direction were strong enough to make this a very good film. 7/10

The Gold Rush (1925) - The first silent film I have ever reviewed, and one of the first silent films I have ever seen. It was funny and brilliantly written, I loved it. 9/10

The Seven Samurai (1954) - There really is not that much to say about this film. Very possibly the best Japanese movie I have ever seen, period. 10/10

Dr. Strangelove (1964) - Arguably Kubrick's masterpiece, and whether or not I agree with that will take a second viewing. But this funny and outstanding film featuring brilliant performances, along with fantastic writing is top 10 material. 10/10

Nosferatu (1922) - The oldest film I have ever seen, and one of the better horror ones. I don't know if I would go as far as saying this almost 90 year old filming is scary, but it is no doubt haunting. 9/10

Lupin the Third: The Castle of Cagliostro (1979) - Miyazaki's first full length film. Creative and well written, a fantastic debut and a start to a brilliant career. 8/10
